‘The Walking Dead’ spin-off taps ‘Fringe,’ ‘Parenthood’ director to helm pilot
Are we starting to actually get close to “The Walking Dead” spin-off releasing some details? Maybe, given that we have finally gotten at least a little bit of sense now of some of the creative process behind the scenes.
For example, the pilot episode now has a director! Adam Davidson, who has worked with AMC before on “Hell on Wheels” and whose credits including “Fringe,” “Community,” and “Parenthood,” will be in charge of really setting the pace and the look for the upcoming show. The pilot is the most important episode in any series from a directorial standpoint, since everyone else is basically going along with the vision that you create.
This spin-off pilot will be filmed at some point in the next couple of months, and should help to give the network a good sense of where we are at right now with this project, co-created by comic guru Robert Kirkman.
While there are some character descriptions out there now on the internet, the only other basic facts that are known about this series are that it will be completely separate from the flagship series, and will not have the same base within the comics. Hopefully, we are going to have some more news coming out about the show, and just what we can expect from it, within the next couple weeks. After all, there is not long until the cast will have to start being announced.
As for when this show could end up airing, it seems like the earliest point would be late next year, though it’s still hard to tell how AMC will handle having two different shows of a similar subject matter. The original “Walking Dead” has already been renewed for a sixth season.
