ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4, episode 4 preview: Olivia Pope, Mellie Grant face off

There have been many times over the course of “Scandal” where we’ve seen the characters of Olivia Pope and Mellie Grant go toe-to-toe, but traditionally, it happens when both of the two parties are in a little bit of a better frame of mind.

Clearly, that is not going to be happening on Thursday night’s new episode “Like Father Like Daughter,” judging at least from the new sneak-peek video below. In this, you see a visibly-disheveled Mellie demand to know what Olivia is doing at the White House. All Kerry Washington’s character will say in response is that the First Lady should really go and ask her husband about it. This could create some new problems and tension for everyone, mostly due to the fact that Mellie and Fitz seemed to have some sort of understanding when it comes to this character, at least in that he would tell his wife if Olivia was going to be re-entering their world again.

While we cannot tell you if there are going to be any passionate scenes for Fitz and Olivia in the near future, this episode tomorrow will mark the first time that the two have been in the same room for any lengthy amount of time. That could make for a particularly tense and interesting scene, and we are hoping to see how that unfolds. We know that there are many who understandably want them together, but at the same time the show cannot just keep doing the same thing over and over again.
