ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4 spoilers: Tony Goldwyn’s Fitz takes on gun control
Even though “Scandal” may have a pretty mainstream audience at this point, the ABC series is clearly showing to us that they have no problem taking on some pretty mainstream issues. After all, we’re going to see President Fitz tackle something that has generated mountains of headlines over the past couple of years in gun control.
When we first wrote about the second episode of the season, entitled “State of the Union,” a couple of days ago, ABC had not mentioned yet that this story would be included. Now, the official synopsis below details how Fitz’s efforts in this issue lead to a new story for Cyrus, while Mellie continues to struggle in her own way:
“In order for Fitz to make the biggest impact with his State of the Union address on gun control, Cyrus sets out to recruit a power couple (Mary McCormick and Josh Randall) who are influential on the issue. Meanwhile, Mellie’s personal struggle gets national attention.”
Will McCormick and Randall be a part of a story-of-the-week plot, or something a little more substantial? For the time being, the producers are clinging to their strict no-spoilers policy, and doing their best to not say anything that leans too heavily on one direction or the other. This is something that they will probably stay consistent with over the next few weeks as well, and that bleeds into when the show actually returns to ABC.
