‘Blue Bloods’ season 5 spoilers: What NFL great is stopping by?

CBS LogoAs you may have noticed lately, CBS is really pushing this whole “Thursday Night Football” event, even though tonight’s game between the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers is really marred by a lot of the Ray Rice drama.

The network has been casting many of their football personalities on some of their drama series, which includes the casting of Tony Gonzales over on “NCIS.” Now, we’ve heard for sure that legendary quarterback Boomer Esiason is going to be appearing on “Blue Bloods” season 5. If you want some more details on his role, then take a look at the press release details below:

“Boomer Esiason, an analyst for THE NFL TODAY on CBS, will appear as himself when he pays a visit to Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) at his office. Reagan thanks Esiason for his work with the Women and Kids Fundraiser and asks if there is anything he can do for him in return. Boomer then makes a request that even the Chief of Police will find difficult to grant.”

We know and understand that CBS wants to really push some of these guest stints right now, but the one thing that do really hope is that they figure out a way to integrate some of these that is not entirely awkward and forced upon the show. There’s nothing cheesier than a cameo that means nothing.

The new season of “Blue Bloods” premieres on Friday, September 26, and Boomer will appear in the one that follows that on October 3.

What do you think about this casting, and are you okay with CBS doing everything in their power to promote some of their football TV personalities on other shows? Share your thoughts right now with a comment.
