‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16 spoilers: Mariska Hargitay narrates new promo

Who wouldn’t want some more “Law & Order: SVU” scoop? With that, we present to you the latest promo for season 16, which actually comes from somewhere that is not NBC itself.

Rather, this promo, introduced by Mariska Hargitay herself, aired during a recent marathon of the show over on USA. Basically, the reaction we have to this is simple: Right when you think that things are going to be easier for Benson again, everything hits the fan. The show has found a way to make this premiere just as dramatic as the William Lewis saga was to start season 15, but in a completely different way. While Benson may not be a victim in the same way as the people she often tries to save, she has to deal with the possibility of something terrible happening to baby Noah. This is going to be a stressful time for her, and one that potentially reinforces for her what her stakes are so long as the child is in her life: She really has to focus now on protecting someone else, and putting herself in a situation where nothing terrible will happen to her.

Of course, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and we certainly do not expect Benson to show up in the premiere as the perfect parent 24 hours a day. Just like any other mother, she will have to figure out and learn the best way to balance her work and her home life … but before that, she will need to make sure both are safe enough to move forward. That is what the premiere will be about.
