‘Royal Pains’ season 6 finale review: Hank, Evan, Paige, and more look to the future

Tonight, “Royal Pains” concluded on USA with an episode that definitely contained its moments, but also has us wondered: Is this really the end of the show? We’re looking at an uncertain future right now, given that this show and many others on the network have struggled, and tonight felt almost more like yet another episode rather than a season or even series finale.

Heck, for the first 50 minutes or so, the biggest surprised was Evan and Paige learning that Bob, their therapist who they’d been seeing almost all season, actually did not have a license. Yet, they did not stop seeing him over this so much as they just realized that they no longer needed his help.

With Evan taking the new position at the hospital, he and Paige decided that the two were looking to finally buying a house … and also getting remarried and having a nice honeymoon. Jeremiah went to see Bob knowing of his credentials, and Divya is going to be dealing with a bitter custody battle.

Finally, we turn towards Hank, who finally made the decision at the end of the episode that he would join the board with Evan despite his previous reservations. He was worried about falling down a rabbit hole with Boris, but decided that those fears are not entirely worth ruining an opportunity over.

The positive about this finale is that in the end, it was really about the relationship between the brothers, which is what the series was first about. Still, we’ll be bummed if the series ends without something more for Jeremiah and Divya, without one more Jill Flint appearance (we did get a Raj cameo tonight), or without something more concrete on the future of HankMed. We still really enjoy the series, so we hope for that reason there is still some life left in it. The one reason we’d be worried is the lack of a cliffhanger, given that we were sure this was going to end with Boris fainting or something else bad taking place. Grade: B+.
