Will ’24’ season 10 actually be a movie? Talks are (reportedly) heating up

24 -Here is some news that we are, at least to a certain extent, excited about: It is looking possible again that “24” could be heading to cinemas as a feature film. While you have heard many media outlets cry wolf on this prospect in the past, there is some evidence now of it actually happening.

According to TVLine, Imagine Entertainment is currently mulling an idea for a movie starring Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer, and their head Brian Grazer is particularly interested in the idea. All of this may come as a result of “24: Live Another Day” being particularly awesome, and quite possibly the greatest thing to happen with this franchise in a rather long time.

However, there are still some significant speed bumps in the road that could keep this from happening, and ironically, a good many of them are tied back in their own way to Fox. With the success of the series with Sutherland earlier this spring, especially the DVR numbers and critical acclaim, the network may want another miniseries-esque season like they had this summer. This means that there are two separate forces wanting different things for the property.

To us, there’s no question that we would much rather have a tenth season of 12 episodes than a feature film. It’s cheaper to watch, and it allows for more of an opportunity to tell a story. Also, it is not like the filming window is that much longer than it would be for a film. The only advantage to a movie is a bigger budget to blow more things up, and also a story that is much more contained.

Then again, any “24” is definitely better than no “24” at all. We’ll have more updates soon.
