‘Doctor Who’ season 8, episode 3 preview: ‘Robot of Sherwood,’ Twelve, and Robin Hood
Where will the story go from here on “Doctor Who“? After tonight’s super-solid episode “Into the Dalek,” we are now preparing for something in “Robot of Sherwood,” an episode written by none other than “Sherlock” co-creator Mark Gatiss. Cheers to that! Tom Riley and Ben Miller will guest-star, and this entire installment will have a Robin Hood theme to it.
Want to get a few other details right now? Then just take a look at the official synopsis coming in from BBC America:
“In a sun dappled Sherwood forest, the Doctor discovers an evil plan from beyond the stars, and strikes up an unlikely alliance with Robin Hood. With all of Nottingham at stake, the Doctor must decide who is real and who is fake. Can impossible heroes actually exist?”
Personally, we are very thrilled to see what Gatiss does with this episode, and to also see the Doctor go back and work with a familiar character in British lore. He robs from the rich and gives to the poor, which we suppose is a morality question much in the same way that Twelve himself wonders whether or not he is a “good man.” Our argument is that there is no one who can be classified as truly “good.” There are always going to be some lines out there that are blurry and need to be to be touched on and explored. This to us sounds just as fun as the episode this week, which we are very excited about right now.
