‘The X Factor’ UK spoilers: Is Simon Cowell putting together eight-person boy band?
Given some of the crazy things that we have seen Simon Cowell do on “The X Factor” over the years, the idea of him putting together a boy band of eight people really should not be very surprising at all.
Speaking per The Mirror, the music mogul proclaims that following his time making One Direction into one of the biggest things in the world, he is now possibly banking on a group of eight members becoming one of the next big things:
“There’s so many four piece bands, five piece bands, three piece bands- to see eight talented guys because the sound of your vocals together on the chorus, it’s like I’ve never heard this before from a group like this.”
The reason we feel that this is going to be a rough thing for the mogul to figure out here is because stardom is all about developing a following. When you have too many people in your group, it is inevitable that it is going to be hard to get to know every single person in the group. While you may not be actually making personal connections, the thing with this show is that you want to at least create the perception of that. You want people to know your story. That is why traditionally, solo singers have a better chance of winning this show than groups. That’s why Little Mix is the only group that has ever won the show itself, though One Direction did a great job of still becoming worldwide stars after the fact.
What do you think: Could an eight-person group actually work, or is Simon trying way too hard right now to be some sort of mad scientist for groups everywhere? Share below, and head over here to get some more news worth singing about via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
