‘The Leftovers’ episode 8 preview: Kevin’s memory crisis

Sunday night’s new episode of “The Leftovers” is looking to be a big one, and there are already a variety of reasons to be curious. What’s one of them? The simple fact that Kevin Garvey seems to have developed a sudden case of amnesia.

The one thing that does continue to worry us about this show is the same thing that we’ve been worried about for many weeks right now: Whether or not this show is ever going to find a way to perk itself up and be a little cheery. While we don’t want to see Justin Theroux’s character parading through a bed of flowers anytime in the near future, is it too much to ask for him to be happy occasionally, or to at least have something good happen to him? It seemed like him getting a relationship going with Nora Durst was going to be that very thing he needed, but instead, what we are left with right now is nothing other than a sex scene that was one of the least romantic things ever.

The fact that the sneak peek below is only 20 seconds long basically keeps us from having any further hope at all in regards to the story. Maybe the fact that there is another season is a reason to be hopeful that some things can turn around … maybe. We suspect that the Guilty Remnant will still be around doing their thing, and as long as they continue to have a presence and Mapleton continues to hate them, the potential for carnage on all sides is there.
