‘Hawaii Five-0’ season 5 spoilers: McGarrett’s woes in a post-Catherine world

When it comes to the McGarrett character on “Hawaii Five-0” right now, we’re definitely dealing with a case of good news and bad news. While we know that he eventually is going to get a new love interest on the CBS series, that is not going to come without some sadness and struggle first.

As a matter of fact, you can probably expect the character to be in a pretty bad place when season 5 first starts up on CBS. For a little more information on this subject, just take a look at how showrunner Peter Lenkov describes it to TV Guide:

He’s taking it hard … There’s still this mourning period, because even though they didn’t break up… she chose to stay behind in Afghanistan, and that actually hurts. So it’s definitely on his mind.”

On one level, you are obviously going to be seeing quite a lot occupy the McGarrett character’s mind while he goes through the upcoming episodes. Given his job, there is never really a dull moment and there are constantly cases to crack. This is going to be something that he will have to figure out how to balance.

As for whether or not this new love interest is anywhere near as permanent, that is going to take a little bit of time to figure out. Hopefully, we’ll have some further information by the midway point of the season about who she is, and what she brings to the world.
