‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 5 spoilers: Could Mona actually help the Liars?

Trying to map out all of the various allegiances on “Pretty Little Liars” would at this point be a pretty impossible task. After all, just think about it for a minute. Certain characters have in the past trusted Ali, just as certain ones have trusted Mona, Jenna, the parents, Noel, Lucas, and almost everyone else in Rosewood. The only thing that is ever agreed on is that “A” is bad news … though nobody ever seems to really know who “A” is other than some terrible man or woman behind a curtain.

For the third-season summer finale, the show seems to be making a nod to its own theme song with the title “Taking This One to the Grave.” Maybe that means someone is dying, or maybe this just means that some answers about Bethany Young are finally going to rise to the surface. ABC Family has not released the full synopsis for this episode yet, but the photo above, coupled with the tiny blurb below, certain make circumstances rather interesting:

“Feeling trapped by Alison and ‘A,’ the PLLs turn to an unlikely person for help.”

If someone like Mona is actually working with the Liars, you have to think that things are really dire for all of them. Otherwise, the motivation’s just not there. It also could mean that lives are starting to be in jeopardy, or at least Aria’s status as a free woman. The deeper we get in this season, and the more we worry about Tanner learning the truth.
