‘Glee’ season 6 spoilers: New characters galore at McKinley High

The wait begins -Let’s prepare for something now that always seems to tick people off: “Glee” casting scoop! The only reason we describe it like this is because everyone known to man seems to have strong opinions about who they cast and why.

Now, let’s get into the news itself. According to a TVLine report, there are a series of new high school students that the show is looking to book for the sixth season, and they all sound like slight variations on people that we’ve come to know with the show already.

Roderick – A chubby, shy guy who can really sing. The report describes him as the ultimate underdog.

Spencer – He’s a gay football star who doesn’t put up with any nonsense. Don’t expect the bullying storyline from season 2 to be repeated, since he’ll beat up anyone who starts to go down that road.

Jane – Somewhat awkward, but also incredibly ambitious and talented. She’s unintentionally funny, and decided to come to McKinley because there are no female Warblers. Sounds like Rachel meets Blaine.

Mason and Madison – Twins who happen to both be Cheerios. Mason is straight, though some wonder otherwise.

Here is where we feel like “Glee” first started struggling in the first place: Season 2, when they decided that Will was no longer the star of the show. The show would have been better suited to make this more about him and the struggles of arts education, since they have instead now got themselves in a position where they’ve made nobody happy. Focusing on two separate locations for seasons 4 and most of 5 made it almost impossible for everyone to be thrilled with the result.

We’ll see how these characters work out for “Glee,” but for the time being, what do you think about them? Share in the comments, and head over here to get some further news worth singing about via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
