‘The Leftovers’ episode 5 preview: The search for Laurie

If there is one thing that we have come to learn already about “The Leftovers” in the limited time that the show has been on the air, it’s this: The show may be coming close to breaking a record or two for being very, very depressing. Nothing even remotely positive ever seems to happen for Kevin.

The latest example of that comes courtesy of the sneak peek below for Sunday’s episode, where he cannot seem to figure out for the life of him what happened to Laurie. Despite the paperwork and the appearance of her in front of him lats week, he still wants to believe that the two are married … even if no one else sees it that way. That is why he is so determined to find out where in the world she is, prodding Meg (who was at the house with her last week) for an answer about her whereabouts.

Unfortunately, Meg does not seem to be inclined to answer, which further reminds us that those within the Guilty Remnant really need to do at least a few things here to endear themselves. Do they really want to be this scourge upon society? They seem to be almost intent on making everyone hate them and be confused about them at the same time.

While this preview does not show him in particular, get ready to see much more of Matt on Sunday’s episode, as well. Since the hour featuring Christopher Eccleston was our favorite of the entire series so far, we’re glad to say that this is happening.
