‘Chicago Fire’ season 3 spoilers: More on Severide (and that ‘Chicago PD’ crossover)
“Chicago Fire” and “Chicago PD” have figured out one very-smart thing when it comes to crossovers: Getting a relationship between the two shows is a smart way to build up intrigue and also keep it there. Doing this with Severide and Lindsay has been a great way to keep that intrigue as high as possible for both shows.
While we have some good news that these two characters are going to still be going strong throughout the third season of “Chicago Fire” and the second for “Chicago PD,” there are still going to be some outside forces weighing in. Specifically here, we’re referring to Halstead and the feelings for Lindsay that he may have. Speaking per TV Guide on this very subject, Jesse Lee Soffer makes it very clear what could be coming up:
“I’m sure it will be sticky again for Lindsay and Halstead … They obviously still have a connection.”
This connection will most likely rear its head, but the important question for the time being is how. There could easily be trouble that brews and forms between the two that impacts their work, and this is the sort of job where you really have to be on the ball 110%.
The new season of “Chicago Fire” premieres on Tuesday, September 23, and hopefully there’ll be a chance to see some more great scoop soon. This is a show that is going into the season with a lot of momentum courtesy of that explosion, ominous as it may be. The one unwritten important bit of news that comes from this story is that this may mean that Severide for sure lives through the first episode.

I think the crossover friendship/attraction/relationship between Severide and Lindsay has been great and has really helped to link the two shows. I get that at the beginning of Chicago PD there was a hint of something brewing between Lindsay and Halstead, but I’m glad the show runners put the kibash on it. Partners being in a romantic relationship just doesn’t work. I’d rather see Lindsay and Halstead have a great partnership, along the lines of what Benson and Stabler had on SVU; having each other’s back, being able to count on each other no matter what with no judgement, and kicking ass and taking names when it comes to the bad guys. Anything more would detract from the core of the show and that is the unit bond. Besides, Lindsay (and Halstead too) needs a reprieve from the stress of the job and having someone like Severide who understands the stress, without being in the thick of it, is exactly what she needs. I’m excited to see happens next for Lindsay and Severide and to see Halstead get a “Severide” of his own.

They didn’t put the kibosh on it. Olmstead doing a love triangle for season 3 and season 2. NBC official CPD page and TV Guide said so that’s what Olmstead said. Severide will stay with Erin but sparks will continue to fly between Erin and Jay. I think that is what this article missed, it’s not just Jay and his feelings , it’s erin too. Because the only reason they not together is because of stupid Voight

I want to see a breakup between Severide and Lindsay. this is going to be torture if they are going to last all season. If I want to see Severide, I would watch Chicago Fire but this crossover romance just made me quit watching Chicago Fire. Matt Olmstead a love triangle and he said sparks will continue to fly between them so it’s not just Halstead feelings. It’s Erin’s too. I want Erin and Jay.
