‘The Walking Dead’ season 5 building a wall around set in Georgia; is it to stop spoilers?
“The Walking Dead” has obviously tried as many different things as possible when it comes to figuring out the right way to stop spoilers from coming out from their Georgia sets. Who knows? Maybe they are drawing inspiration from centuries of history for their next trick, and attempting to build their own great wall of China.
According to a local NBC affiliate, there is a 15-foot wall that is being erected right now in the town of Senoia, Georgia, in particular to cover up filming for a particular neighborhood. Now, it’s possible that this is being done to replicate a certain part of Terminus, but another common (and easy) theory has to be that the show is doing everything in its power right now to keep spoilers at bay. Given all of the money that they make on new episodes, they can probably afford to erect some giant wall to keep onlookers from posting photos to social media.
In a way, we’re torn about the whole “walker stalker” culture in the first place. We understand as much as anyone having a passionate desire and need to see as much scoop related to a show as possible. Catching filming gives you an advantage, and also allows you to make memories. However, posting set photos online potentially ruins the show for others, and takes away the time and money that the show puts into making things a surprise. We’d love to sit here and say that protocol should be to only take pictures of or with actors in approved locales, but who’s going to police that? No one. This is just a struggle that the show is going to face thanks to filming in America, and a pretty populated state to boot. It’s a little different than “Game of Thrones” filming in remote parts of the world.
What do you think: Will a giant wall actually stop spoilers related to “The Walking Dead,” or do you imagine a different purpose for this? As always, sound off in the comments!
