TV quite hits: ‘Good Wife’ season 6, David Letterman, Stephen Colbert, and Craig Ferguson
As you could probably tell from the title alone, this edition of TV Quick Hits is all about CBS, and a few assorted highlights from the network’s TCA Press Tour panel today. Let’s dive right in!
“The Good Wife” has no end date – While Julianna Margulies has speculated in the past that the critically-acclaimed network drama may be ending after its seventh season, programming head Nina Tassler denied most of the talk for now. We feel like this is still a conversation topic that is going to come up in the future, but it will probably be more around when the show is getting near the end of this coming season.
David Letterman’s end date – There is no confirmed finale for the legendary “Late Show” host, but Tassler said that all parties are currently discussing it. Also, she said that while Stephen Colbert will not be playing his character on his upcoming version of the show, he is still figuring out components of the program beyond that it will be interview-based. He’s also deciding whether or not he will have a band.
Craig Ferguson’s replacement – Also, there is no word on this just yet, though Tassler did say that the results of the CBS search may surprise many:
“There’s certainly a knee-jerk reaction to go for a more traditional, behind-the-desk interview format, but who knows? This is an opportunity [for us to] look at all kinds of hosts, not only from the comic world, but maybe the political world. Right now, we’re doing our homework and having a lot of meetings and talking. We want to make the right decision.”
Let us be the first to say “no” to the idea of politics. Keep it funny, people!
