‘Arrow’ season 3: Looking back on a cut kiss … and explaining why

More Felicity -Oliver / Felicity fans have long waited for a moment where the two parties would kiss on “Arrow,” when the reality is now that in some out-of-context universe, they have now. The two locked lips in a cut scene from the season 2 finale, which took place at Queen Manor while Stephen Amell’s character was setting her up to be the one to inject Slade Wilson.

We always supported the scene being cut in this instance, mostly for the fact that it wasn’t completely genuine; if and when the two do kiss for the first time, we certainly want it to be something that we remember. Show executive producer Greg Berlanti seems to agree, given that he told TVLine that the only thing introducing that kiss into the episode would have probably done was anger Olicity fans when they realized that it was just a stunt:

“We felt like we didn’t need it, for a lot of reasons. But in part, we already were playing with [the viewers’] affections to a certain degree.”

There is obviously still plenty of hope for the show moving forward, including suggestions that in the first episode back, Oliver could ask Felicity out on a date. Given the story ahead and the suggest that The Atom could also be a love interest for her, we suspect that the love story here for these characters is probably not something that is going to be resolved for a little while longer into the future. We’re fine with that, at least so long as the relationship continues to build organically along the way.

The new season of “Arrow” premieres on The CW come Wednesday, October 8, and we couldn’t be more excited! If you want to target some additional updates from us at CarterMatt, sign up for our newsletter today.
