‘Person of Interest’ season 4 spoilers: ‘Mad Men’ alum to play key part in new world

The latest -Person of Interest” definitely decided to end its third season on a pretty depressing note, and that leads us to hoping passionately that there will be some hope in the fourth season at some point.

If there is, though, you’re not going to be finding it on the show right away. Rather, Deadline reports that “Mad Men” alum Cara Buono is set to play a mysterious but dangerous woman who is connected to the world of Samaritan, and succeed in this new world where the dark side of a computer controls everything. There’s a part of us who wants to say that she is the Samaritan version of Root, but that seems a little presumptuous given how little we know about the character so far.

If nothing else, we at least know with the way that last season ended that “Person of Interest” is not going to be a cowardly show by any means. They will continue to take big and bold risks in an effort to make this show interesting, and the one thing that we will personally have to wait and see about is if the risks pay off in this case. We know that this is a very dark, grim series, but eventually there has to be some sort of light at the end of the tunnel … right? If there’s not, the show runs the risk of going into territory that is so dark that nobody will really enjoy watching the series anymore.

“Person of Interest” premieres on CBS Tuesday, September 23, and we’ll of course have more news before that time.
