‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11, ‘Scandal’ season 4, more shown in latest ABC promo

ABC really wants you to know that if you want to get into a Shonda Rhimes show, the best way to do so is from the very beginning.

The video below features “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” and also new entry “How To Get Away with Murder,” and the three shows each choose to really spotlight the pilot episodes first and foremost. We see the meeting between Meredith and Derek, Olivia and Fitz spending some time together, and also Viola Davis’ character on the new ABC series basically saying the title of the new show out loud.

The key that ABC is going for here is nostalgia, and proof that these are shows that can last a long time and be a part of your week. “Grey’s Anatomy” still has many fans who were there from the beginning, and while “Scandal” did not really catch fire until season 2, we imagine that many probably went back and enjoyed some of the first-season episodes over the course of the summer after they aired. Both of these shows do a great job of creating memorable characters, and also surprises that have you talking almost non-stop.

One thing that we would definitely caution ABC about here is that being the “most tweetable new drama” is not really something that we consider to be a good thing. Remember here that people were live-tweeting “Smash” out of sheer vitriol for the show. Twitter is typically a venue for either passion or trolling, and sometimes there can be a pretty fine line between the two.
