‘Big Brother 16’ spoilers: On Frankie, Ariana Grande’s grandfather, and in-game implications

Frankie -The subject of family members and health is something seems strange to write about when it comes to a fun show like “Big Brother,” mostly because they could not be more of polar opposites. One of them is something that is obviously extremely important to real life, and the other, while entertaining and addicting, is a game.

Since we know that there is a ton of interest on this story regarding Frankie Grande’s grandfather and the implications his cancer battle could have on the game, this is still a subject worth discussing. Note in advance that our thoughts are with the entire family, and no matter what we hope that he pulls through.

The news about “Grandpa Grande” (as he is called by many in the Ariana fandom) and his condition spread by the pop star informing fans that she was going to be heading back to Florida after the release of her single “Break Free” and also an appearance in New York. Her gig on Friday in Philadelphia has been canceled.

As for what this could mean for Frankie in the game, much of it is going to depend on communication between producers and those close to him, and also what Frankie may have told them earlier in the game. The only time that producers will contact you about something in the outside world is typically in the event of an emergency. This is what happened on “Big Brother 13” when it comes to Evel Dick’s departure, and even on “The Bachelorette” earlier this season with a contestant’s friend passing away. They do not want to keep you from your loved ones in a trying time, so this is a call that has to be made based on circumstance. (On the flip side, there are some shows that will allow you to contact home based on some sort of injury or problem you suffer during production, but that is more reserved for shows that are not airing in real-time.)

It’s worthless and probably insensitive to speculate about when producers may or may not have  this conversation with Frankie if the health issue worsens, but it is something to be made aware of in the event that it becomes a storyline on the show down the road.
