ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7 spoilers: Taking a villain off the table

The latest -What is this, two “Castle” stories in two days over the course of the summer? This is almost unheard-of in June, given the show is not filming yet, and nor are they deep into the casting process.

What the purpose of this story happens to be is clarification. There were some pretty strong insinuations at around the time of the finale that the person responsible for the kidnapping of Richard Castle was not Senator Bracken, and there were many reasons to think that. The obvious one is that Bracken was just defeated the episode before, and the other one is that he wouldn’t have had much time to concoct a master scheme like this from one episode to the next.

While we suppose that this is not 110% absolute confirmation that Bracken is out as the source of Castle’s kidnapping, Andrew W. Marlowe’s just-published comments via TVLine (a slight addition to what was said previously) certainly suggest that another person is at play:

“The Bracken arc is pretty much over … We know who [killed Johanna], Beckett has gotten juctice…. If there is any future storytelling with Senator Brecken, it would be breaking new ground and not going back to revisit the old ghosts.”

For many, 3XK a.k.a. Jerry Tyson remains very high on the suspect list, and understandably so. There was never a body found after he jumped from the bridge, the Dr. Kelly Nieman character seemed to be tied to him somehow, and there was a man who appeared in “Disciple” (briefly) who some claim looked like actor Michael Mosley. All compelling evidence, in addition to the fact that there are few other “Castle” characters so notorious. There are definitely other possibly suspects, but none as interesting or exciting.

In case you missed it, Marlowe recently revealed that there are currently set to be 23 episodes of “Castle” season 7. That gives you more reason to be excited, even if it has become expected at this point.
