‘The Good Wife’ season 6 spoilers: Julianna Margulies looks at possible end date
How long can a series like “The Good Wife” really last? This has never been one of the highest-rated shows on CBS, and really at this point you have to mostly cite the critical acclaim as the only reason that it is still on the air. Don’t get us wrong here: We are very happy it is.
But when you have a series that does produce such quality, the last thing that you ever want to do is drag things on far longer than they really need to be. It is much better to come up with a date and time that suits the end of the show well, rather than trying to push it well beyond the end of its life.
After a brief joke during an interview with TVLine, series star Julianna Margulies seemed to suggest recently that there probably are enough stories left to tell for the show to run for two more seasons:
“Eighteen years. [Laughs] Robert’s always said he had seven years of this show in him, and my feeling is, I want to do it as long as the writer feels he has something to write… Alicia is basically in every scene. Characters can come and go on the show, but she can’t. So as long as they’re happy to write for Alicia, I’m happy to play her. My guess is we’ll go seven seasons.”
We do feel a little like Margulies is onto something here. Contracts would need to be changed around season 7 at the latest, and it feels natural that there would be 44 episodes or so to establish Alicia’s future now that Will is no longer in her life.

Season 7 and call it a day. A lot of show go on past there sell by date and it just turns into another show thats on TV. I dont want The Good Wife to turn into another show on TV.
Take Desperate Housewives, it turned into another show on TV by season 7, it had lost its flare it once had in the early seasons. I do think the Kings should keep to the seven year plan they have, I would rather have seven amazing seasons that seven good ones and one average one.
The ratings are not great and CBS may decide to call it a day after season 6 but I really hope that they get to end the series properly, not on a cliffhanger, but in a way that everyone gets a conclusion within the series. And if CBS do call it a day mid-season 6, I hope they get to end the series properly, I want a definite end to Alicias road and hers and everyone elses stories.

I want the first half of season 6 Alicia realizing she doesn’t want to be a defense laywer.
The second part of the season she is running for State’s Attorney.
And season 7 Alicia in power.
