‘Big Brother 16’ rumors: Talking ‘Blood vs. Water,’ All-Stars, newbies, and more

Big Brother -Now that we are finally getting close to the June 26 premiere of “Big Brother 16,” is there really a better time for us to go through what some of the rumors are? It will not be long before these sort of things heat up, and supposed cast chatter floods the internet in the way that tears often do during the game.

The following are all topics that we’ve seen discussed on Twitter in the past week, and we’ve included a little bit of evidence as to why they may or may not be happening.

All-Stars – The biggest suggestion for this is mostly that “Big Brother 15” was pretty terrible, and the biggest reason why is that the cast was largely unlikable and the endgame was pretty boring. All-Stars, in theory, would change that. Dr. Will has been poking the “Big Brother” bear a little more than usual lately (though some of his tweets have disappeared), and we’ve seen a number of other past contestants getting involved in heated discussions.

The only other real evidence of something happening is CBS putting up all episodes of “Big Brother 7” up online, but this was actually voted on by fans from the three seasons the network allowed them to choose from. Still, you could still make the conspiracy argument that CBS made this a choice knowing that the fans would pick it.

Blood vs. Water – CBS has also been hyping the Project DNA season recently, and those two things combined certainly have people thinking that the show is going the route of “Survivor.” There have also been some whispers among the houseguest community about something like this, which could give you a “best of both worlds” in that you get new and returning players.

With all of this being said … would this really work? We’re not sure. We liked “Survivor: Blood vs. Water” mostly because the two tribes were separate, and this created a different layer of strategy. Here, it’s just basically a variation on the duo twist from season 13, and we found that season to be dull the moment that Daniele Donato left.

Speaking of Dani, if she gets cast could she be allowed to bring in Dominic?

Newbies – Our feeling here is that “Survivor: Cagayan” proved that you can have a great season of all new players with the right cast, and you just need to have faith in them. “Big Brother Canada” has shown that as well. We’re not really that sure there are enough good first-time players for another All-Stars, so unless you are bringing back people for a third time, we’d be fine with another season or two of newbies to really beef up the roster of good players for an excellent one down the road. We’ve seen at least one Twitter page claiming that a newbie has been “cast” for the show, but you can believe that if you wish. (If it was true, that person certainly won’t be put on now….)

We’ll continue to have some updates the rest of the month at the link here, so be on the lookout for that. Also, sign up for further good stuff via our official newsletter.
