‘True Blood’ season 7: Joe Manganiello on life after Alcide

Finally -Most of the stars of “True Blood” right now are certainly in an interesting place. You have them interested in promoting and discussing the upcoming seventh and final season of the show, but at the same time, they also have to sit back and think about where they want to go moving forward. Some have new TV gigs lined up, while others are doing movies.

When it comes to Joe Manganiello, he has always been a jack of all trades. He has done serious action work, comedy, and has published a book all about fitness. While there may be some actors from the show who will always be known by the part that they played, he does not think that he will be one of them. Speaking in a new interview with BuzzFeed, he did his part to explain why:

“I don’t think that I’ll be pigeonholed by the role because I wasn’t a part of the show enough for that to happen. I think Alcide gave me a career past the show, but I don’t think it will necessarily be what I am remembered for. It was the means, not the end.

“It was all about getting to this point I’m at right now — every actor dreams of getting the right job at the right time on the right show that pops them out, and that happened five years ago for me. So, those five years were spent with my head down, blinders on; total tunnel vision. I was going to squeeze every drop out of True Blood, and I can look back and say, with confidence, that I got everything out of that experience I possibly could. That got me to right now, which is the spot I always dreamed of being in.”

As for where we expect Alcide to end up at the end of the series, we have a hard time thinking that he is going to have an especially happy ending. He was never the first love of Sookie Stackhouse, and he has also at times been relegated more to sideplots than some of the other characters on the show.
