‘True Blood’ season 7: Alexander Skarsgard, Anna Paquin reflect in new promo

A surprise -For those of you who have been desperately hoping for more Alexander Skarsgard in a “True Blood” promo, we have some good news to deliver for you today. Unfortunately, we also have some bad news in that it may not be the sort of footage that you want showing Eric Northman still alive.

Rather, the latest promo unveiled by HBO is more of a retrospective looking back at the show over the years, and also interspersed with some of the cast talking about what the show has meant to them. Anna Paquin proclaims that playing Sookie Stackhouse has “changed her life,” while Joe Manganiello claims that it was a “childhood dream” of his to be able to play some sort of monster in a movie.

This is actually the first time that Skarsgard has been used in any promos for this season, and that should go as another sign that producers do have been big plans for Eric, even if they are not showing a whole lot of him right now. We like to think of this whole promo just as a bit of nostalgia, and it is interesting to watch it while thinking about where the show was back all the way when it started, and now where it has evolved.

In the end, though, early buzz is that the final season is going to be a little bit of a return to basics for the show. We are going to focus in again on some of what people loved in the first place, including the original characters and some of the stories involving them. It’s going to be a little less complicated, and will hopefully lead to an ending that almost everyone can be reasonably happy with.

Does this promo give you the chills, or just a simple feeling of nostalgia? Let us know your thoughts one way or another below, and head over here to get a bite of additional TV updates via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
