‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 5 spoilers: Creator on Alison story, no more spin-offs (for now)

“Pretty Little Liars” made a pretty bold move in trying to launch a spin-off series in “Ravenswood” last year; in theory, it had a lot of reasons why it should have worked. We just feel like the reason that it fell apart was just that the characters save for Caleb failed to pop, and the mystery was a little hard to wrap your head around right away.

Luckily, Tyler Blackburn will be returning the flagship series this year, and it doesn’t look like the show is going to be spinning off into any other properties … at least for the time being. Creator Marlene King confirmed as much in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter teasing the new season, and she also presented some other questions when it comes to how other characters outside of the Liars who could be impacted by Alison’s return to Rosewood:

“Lucas, Paige, Noel Kahn, everybody who was tangled under her web … Do we get sucked back in? What do we do? How do we deal with it? That’s what’s going to be interesting to see how it plays out. Does this group need a leader? Does this group want a leader?”

This is going to be a crazy series of episodes ahead, and many of these characters mentioned about will potentially interact with Alison especially in the 100th episode. That is when she returns to school for the first time, and people will have a chance to see what actually makes her tick again.
