‘Doctor Who’ season 8 spoilers: Steven Moffat on huge changes ahead

The latest -Doctor Who” season 8 is going to be premiering on the BBC this August, and based on what we are hearing now, it may end up being quite a different product than anything we’ve seen in a long time. As expected, this is very much by design as the show looks to continually surprise others and reinvigorate itself.

Executive producer Steven Moffat made his presence felt recently at the Hay Festival, and he said there (per Digital Spy) that there is a tremendous level of excitement that comes out of getting to take risks and have a Doctor in place who is very different than just about anyone that they’ve had before:

“We haven’t made much of change to Doctor Who since it came back in 2005. It’s been the same show. It’s maybe amped some things up and lowered some other things, but it’s basically the same.I just felt it needs to be a bit more different now. It’s needs to be surprising again!”

Having Peter Capaldi in the leading role rather than the much-younger Matt Smith is a big change, but so far, buzz is still as strong as ever for the series. Moffat has already proved to be adept when it comes to bringing in the point of views for a variety of different men and women. Also, this should be true when it comes to relationships. The 12th Doctor is obviously going to have a very different dynamic with Jenna Coleman’s Clara than the Smith version did.

Hopefully, the series can live up to some of the massive expectations; given that this is “Doctor Who” and one of the most beloved franchises out there, you know everyone is going to have an opinion on it.

What do you want to see on the upcoming eighth season of “Doctor Who,” and are you equally excited to see Capaldi step into this significant role?
