‘Sherlock’ season 4: Benedict Cumberbatch, Netflix, and an assortment of stories

Sherlock season 3For this particular “Sherlock” story, let us begin here with a little reminder for those of you who have yet to either watch the third season, or want to just relive the feeling all over again: There are a myriad of opportunities for you out there!

The third season of the show is streaming exclusively on Netflix now, and it comes complete with a variety of other special behind-the-scenes features. In what is the continuing war between streaming providers (Hulu and Amazon are also working to build quite a lineup), this is another feather that Netflix can put in their cap.

Now, we come to another funny story all about the fact that the BBC was initially worried about casting Benedict Cumberbatch for the lead role … because of his appearance? While at the Hay Literary Festival, Steven Moffat claimed that the network told him that they were promised “a sexy Sherlock” rather than him. Oh, the irony here should be beautiful to so many of you, given that Benedict is so sought-after by the ladies that there is a pretty controversial fan name out there.

Unfortunately, there is still little word at the moment in regards to what is going to happen next with Benedict and the series itself. Everyone still wants to do a fourth season, but with schedules piling up, it is all about trying to find a time. The good news? We expect it to be on the air by 2016 at the latest … and therein also lies the bad news. That is a long time to wait for new episodes. They may come earlier than that, but the stories regarding this have flip-flopped already a million times.
