ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7 spoilers: Who is not involved in Nathan Fillion story twist
At the end of the “Castle” finale Monday, you had a moment that was clearly pretty polarizing with the internet community. After all, you cannot do something like take away a long-anticipated wedding without stirring up some internet anger. It all ultimately just comes back to the fact that people love Castle and Beckett, and they don’t want to see anything terrible happen to them.
Now that we’ve said all of that, we do need to touch a little bit on the twist that happened at the end of the episode. Who is responsible for what happened to rick? There are clearly many suspects, but there is one person who creator Andrew W. Marlow seems content to rule out at the moment: Senator Bracken. As he says in a new interview with TV Guide, the politician being behind bars in many ways to him signifies the end of this story:
“I think that aspect of the mythology is closed now … Beckett knows who killed her mother. If there’s further storytelling there, I think we’re going to be breaking new ground.”
By this, maybe Marlowe means that it could be someone tied to Bracken in a way, but not necessarily the Senator himself. We still would put 3XK #1 on the power rankings for possible suspects, mostly because we have a feeling that he is still out there and we just met his potential new partner-in-crime a little earlier this season. There are plenty of surprises still to come, though, so it will be interesting to see just what unfolds. Who knows? Maybe a villain from many seasons ago turns up and shocks everybody.

There won’t be any beautiful wedding. They will probably just get married on the spur of the moment while at the courthouse getting a warrant. There won’t be anything romantic about it, no honeymoon, and the kiss will likely be interrupted. Marlowe has ruined this show, but he thinks he is telling a great love story. We know that because he keeps telling us that. Just like he has to tell us they aren’t boring because everything we see on the screen is boring. I won’t be watching in the fall. He has finally driven me away. It won’t be long before they start talking about the Castle curse when a showrunner considers getting his leads together.

I want it to be a new villain. At the end of the episode it made me feel that the events that happened were not just coincidences but the work of someone pulling the strings. First of all you have the random marriage (which I don’t mind about), which removes Beckett and then Castle away from their wedding arrangements. Then the venue burns down, the dress is destroyed and Ryan’s suit is messed up. This all leads to the wedding at the hamptons, so the villain must either be just watching or controlling the events. It still bugs me how a county clerk found out about the marriage and not the FBI. If anything, that needs to be explained. I would rather have the wedding after they deal with the magnitude of the situation. There will have to be a discussion about their relationship and if Castle will be allowed to shadow Beckett. The whole “One and Done” argument is stupid, but I also think Marlowe explained it wrong. We do not really know true Beckett until S5. She talks about her rebellious past, she was drunk, persuaded by Rogan, her life has been completely changed by her mother’s murder, so it is understandable this could have happened to her. This is a woman who got into relationships with men she did not love, she even fell for her former partner Royce. She is a very flawed character but is mistakenly thought off as perfect by some fans. In my opinion, Castle is still her one and done, and Beckett is Castle’s one and done.

You got it right as far as I’m concerned, Ben – kudos for being so perceptive! I’m eagerly awaiting S7!

Royce was her idol, her revered trainer, not her BF.

True, he was not her boyfriend but I always felt with the way she reacted to him, she fell in love with him to an extent.

There is still a lot of story telling even if Rick and Beckett were to get married. I hope AWM will let this happen and continue on with the rest of the story.Let Beckett find Rick alive, maybe a little bruised and get this wedding under way.

I just don’t even care anymore. No anger here…just a big sigh and a “whatever.” AM ruined Beckett’s one-and-done character for me with that contrived fake marriage. Castle and Beckett can get married in season 7 or not…I won’t be watching either way because I no longer trust the showrunner. For those of you sticking around, if/when the wedding happens, I sincerely hope it’s everything you’re wishing for.

The forgotten marriage was so bogus. It just was not compatible with Beckett. Kate would not be that stupid, even at 18 years. Wasn’t she suppose to be pre-law? Stana is unable to play the ditsy role. Marlowe really messed up with this reversal of the character. Maybe they can fix it. Too many fans are dissatisfied with this.

Marlow has lost the Castle touch. Beckett’s character has been dumbed down. All told, Castle and Beckett cannot get to where they are at by following Marlow’s story line. Keep this up season 7 may be the last if it does not get cancelled mid season. It has happened to better shows than AM’s Castle.

The finale needs to be resolved in the first episode, because if they start with additional complications ,the wedding might get pushed back to who knows when ,and that IMO is ignoring the fans wishes, and getting things done to the designs of ABC ,opting to squeeze the to the last drop the wedding from happening until it fits their plans

I think that either 3XK or someone connected to Castle’s father is behind whatever happened to Castle.

I don’t want it to be 3xk but I’m sure it is. I want rick to be okay and with Kate in episode 1’of season 7. I’ll live without the wedding I want but I don’t want rick kidnapped, with amnesia opera anything else that keeps them apart. It is too cruel to put Kate through that kind of loss.

Very well said,am a little worried, if they decide to pull the Rick amnesia routine ,or some other, trick to delay their getting back together, and they should deal with a solution in the first episode

I think people will be even more angry if Castle isn’t rescued & a beautiful wedding doesn’t take place in the season finale. If they leave it as a cliffhanger, I for one will explode. I don’t even care who is responsible. Just stop teasing and dragging it out and GIVE ME THE DAMNED WEDDING!!!!!

Not going to happen soon. Marlowe has said there is more story telling before the marriage. Unless fan pressure gets to him/ABC, not going to happen anytime soon.

That’s what am afraid of,the whole season 7 trying to unmask the Rick accident, no wedding seems possible until that is resolved, looking for ABC own vested nterest in the rating sweeps, which is what the business is all about not the romantic visions of the loyal fans. Very dissapointing, but quite possible

Since ABC/Marlowe destroyed the positive female role model (Beckett) Mon nite, and Marlowe has said there WILL NOT be a wedding until other stories are told, I’m guessing there won’t be a wedding until series cancelation, which, after Mon nite, may be sooner than later
