‘The Originals’ season 2 spoilers: Boss on Claire Holt surprise, future for Hayley
There were quite a few surprises that came out of the season 1 finale for “The Originals” on Tuesday night, but it is pretty easy (at least for the time being) to label one of them as the biggest shocker of all: Rebekah’s back! However, this is not some sort of permanent return for the character in the slightest.
The finale ended with Claire Holt’s character taking the child of Hayley and Klaus away as a means of securing its future, and in return, it gave Rebekah something that she had also always wanted. This was a nice, sweet, and also rare moment given that Klaus and Rebekah have made it very clear that they are not the biggest fans of one another.
But as to whether or not we are going to see her again on the show in the future, executive producer Julie Plec had the following say in a TVLine interview after the episode:
“Honestly, I definitely know we’ll see her again in certain contexts. She’s got the baby, so it’s not like she’ll be living in New Orleans and playing nanny in the middle of the French Quarter, but this is not the last we’ve seen of her. We’d definitely like to check in on her every now and again.”
As for one of the other big stories of the night in the transformation of Hayley into a hybrid, let’s just say that this is not something that she is going to have a particularly easy time dealing with:
“If anyone’s going to have the roughest time coming out of all of this, it’s going to be Hayley. Not only did she have to give her child away, which is catastrophic and devastating in itself, but she also lost the one thing she thought defined her, which was that she was this werewolf leader who these people thought of as royalty. She was the last in her family line, and that’s all gone and shattered. She’s going to have a real identity crisis, and it’s going to impact her sense of self, leaving the brothers to be there as the ones who need to pick her up and help her find herself again.”
