‘The Originals’ finale review: A baby named Hope, a Claire Holt shocker, and death
“The Originals” may have polarized many people over the past several weeks, but we still feel like many of these same people may be feeling rather satisfied now with how season 1 came to a close Tuesday night: In as surprising a way as humanly possible. It was a stunning hour, and executive producer Julie Plec and company were not kidding about anything blowing us away.
So where do we even begin here? How about with the fact that Claire Holt is back? Rebekah returned, and actually got something that she’s always wanted in a child. She could be a worthy protector for the kid of Klaus and Hayley (named Hope), which is good given that potentially Finn and Alice are out there in some form ready to take her. It’s a good thing that Klaus managed to stage Hayley’s death.
Oh, did we mention that Hayley is now a hybrid? Thanks to the baby’s blood being in her at the time of her death, she was able to come back to the world as one of many character revivals. Marcel was also saved in a way this time, at least after he helped to ensure that the witches did not use the baby as a sacrifice.
In the end, this was definitely one of the craziest finales that we could possibly imaged, but for those who watched from the very beginning, it’s hard to see them upset with it. It brought back a character who was missed, and created a beautiful moment for her. We’re already interested in seeing where this story goes from here. Grade: B.

Couple edits…Alice is actually Esther. And they didn’t stage Hayley’s death they staged Hope’s.

It means that she can and will return with her niece in the future. She may or may not come back full time later, but she will always be welcome if there is a story for her.

Loved it!!! so glad to see Rebekah come back, even for just a minute. I cried watching Klaus show love for his child and Rebekah seeing him really love someone other then himself for the first time. Looking forward to season 2

It was good! I felt as soon as they agreed to send the baby away that Bekah had to be WHO they were sending Hope to. It was a well done finale.
