ABC 2014-15 Fall Schedule: ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ ‘Scandal,’ ‘Agents of SHIELD’ move
While we have not been a fan of many of ABC’s shows as of late, we will at least give them credit for one thing today with their fall schedule: Bringing something to the table that makes sense. There are no surprises here, but the moves that they made were (mostly) sensible ones based on everything that was around them … with one notable exception.
That exception, of course, is moving “Scandal” to Thursday nights at 9:00 p.m., an hour earlier than previously. Why mess with a good thing? Not only that, but this is setting up for a “Scandal” vs. “The Blacklist” showdown at this point next year that should be very interesting, given that these are two of television’s most-watched dramas.
Without further ado, let’s go ahead and get into presenting the schedule.
Mondays
8:00-10:00 – “Dancing with the Stars”
10:00-11:00 – “Castle”
Tuesdays
8:00-8:30 – “Selfie” (new comedy)
8:30-9:00 – “Manhattan Love Story” (new comedy)
9:00-10:00 – “Agents of SHIELD”
10:00 – “Forever” (new drama)
Wednesdays
8:00-8:30 – “The Middle”
8:30-9:00 – “The Goldbergs”
9:00-9:30 – “Modern Family”
9:30-10:00 – “Black-Ish” (new comedy)
10:00-11:00 – “Nashville”
Thursdays
8:00-9:00 – “Grey’s Anatomy”
9:00-10:00 – “Scandal”
10:00-11:00 – “How To Get Away with Murder” (new drama)
Fridays
8:00-8:30 – “Last Man Standing”
8:30-9:00 – “Cristela” (new comedy)
9:00-10:00 – “Shark Tank”
10:00-11:00 – “20/20”
Sundays
8:00-9:00 – “Once Upon a Time”
9:00-10:00 – “Resurrection”
10:00-11:00 – “Revenge”

The main problem in ABC’s armor is going to be Tuesday nights, where you have a weakened “SHIELD” and a bunch of new shows. At least “Selfie” has Karen Gillan in the cast, but that will be a very hard night for them. We already wonder if “Forever” will be the first show canceled of the entire season. Everything else should work out okay, though we wonder if “Resurrection” is only going to have eight episodes again in its second season.

With Scandal they are hoping that the new show -with an African-American woman as lead – will keep the audience of the strong show with an African-American woman lead. Apparently they believe African-American women only watch TV one day a week. :x
You’re right that it’s a bad move. Scandal is a “let’s talk about it for days after it airs” show. If they want that audience to watch the second show, they need to give it a space where the buzz isn’t competing against Scandal. Pairing it with another drama does make sense though – just not with Scandal. They should switch it with Forever – whatever that is, move Grey’s back to 9pm & Scandal back to 10. Grey’s is perfect counter-programming for The Blacklist.
Look for How to Get Away With Murder to become a big time-shifted show.

Agents of SHIELD will do better when it isn’t rivaling NCIS.
Every time NCIS had a rerun, SHIELD rations jumped

The Grey’s/Scandal move is stupid. 8pm is family hour and Grey’s is an adult show

I like that the Goldbergs moved to Wednesdays. If TAAHM is put on Thursdays after football at 9pm. Scandal and The Blacklist will destoy it. For CBS’ sake, next season better be TAAHM’s last season.
