‘Agents of SHIELD’ episode 22 (finale) spoilers: Nick Fury returns and more

There have been times on “Agents of SHIELD” this season where the flaws have gotten in the way of the story. However, some of those flaws (plodding storylines, taking itself a little too seriously) have fallen by the wayside in favor of some great surprises, and a pretty awesome integration with “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” Honestly, we did not think we would enjoy it that much!

The season finale airing next week now definitely looks to have everything that you could hope for and then some. After all, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) is back! Sam himself confirmed this casting a while ago, but ABC has been reasonably quiet about it until now. The official synopsis doesn’t give much away, but it at least allows you to see some of the cut-and-dry details:

“Dark secrets are revealed as Coulson and his team put everything on the line to stop Garrett and the forces of Hydra, on the explosive season finale.”

We’re certainly down for the potential that this episode is looking to meet, and there are also some interesting questions to go along with it. For example, what in the world is going to happen when it comes to a cliffhanger? ABC has not officially renewed the show, so from that vantage point, there may be hesitation to drop a huge bomb in the closing minutes. Then again, we would be shocked if there wasn’t a season 2 pickup. The ratings may not be what they once were, but there is still a lot to like here and Marvel is a hot property for ABC’s parent company Disney.
