MTV’s ‘Awkward.’ season 4, episode 4 preview: Jenna’s new ‘Matty problem’
One of the many strange charms when it comes to “Awkward.” is that often, the show possesses a real and very rare gift for being able to make us very entertained by disasters. Almost everything that Jenna Hamilton does falls into the category of “things that don’t work out right.” Somehow, though, she still finds a way to get through most of it and smile in the end.
On Tuesday night’s new episode, that challenge will come her way again courtesy of the high school tradition known as Spirit Week. Every person who remembers high school probably remembers something like this … and in the world of Palos Hills, apparently the seniors traditionally dominate when it comes to school spirit. Unfortunately, Jenna and company seem to be rather awful at it.
When it comes to Jenna, though, it is pretty easy to sympathize for one simple reason: Nothing has gone particularly well with her as of late. Her mentoring attempt was a car crash, and things between her and Matty are not so great. He is turning to Eva for emotional support, and Mackenzie for the … physical support. Jenna’s just kind of there, and it stinks for her. It’s also no good for us as viewers, since we find the majority of the blondes on this show to be interchangeable and very hard to differentiate from each other.
Hopefully, this story in some ways leads to Jenna being able to move forward and find her own new source of love, since Matty’s not really worth it if he is going to continue to be this way around her. There has to be a better way for her, and for us as viewers, to root for her to find love.

I was Team Jenna/Matty since the show. Both Jenna and Matty have their faults and Jenna went “Cray-Cray” last season and cheated on him. I think these too should move on. I agree with Tamara about watching TV shows in the summer……..I cannot deal with the re-runs.
