‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 finale spoilers: Ian Somerhalder and big moves
As “The Vampire Diaries” season 5 inches ever closer to its finale, it may be in the end setting the stage for some of the craziest things to occur that we have seen to date. Given everything that this show has done so far, that may be really saying something.
This article is about the season-ending episode itself, and some of what we can expect to see. The title for this first and foremost is “Home,” which is both ominous and comforting at the same time given that some tend to interpret death as also being a certain path to being home. Liv and and Luke are still going to be around, as is Markos. However, what stands out to us about the synopsis from the network is that Ian Somerhalder’s character really seems to be at the center of all the insanity more so than anyone else. Take a look below:
“Heartbroken by an unexpected tragedy, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is focused on holding himself together, while pushing Bonnie (Kat Graham) harder than ever to find a way to stop the disintegration of the Other Side. Elena (Nina Dobrev) takes matters into her own hands and demands that Liv (guest star Penelope Mithcell) and Luke (guest star Chris Broshu) help her, but Liv refuses to cooperate until Caroline (Candice Accola) provides her with some personal motivation. Sheriff Forbes (guest star Marguerite MacIntyre) is horrified when Markos (guest star Raffi Barsoumian) uses violence against Tyler/Julian (Michael Trevino) to prove that Mystic Falls is now under the control of the Travelers. With new information from Sheriff Forbes, Damon comes up with a dangerous plan that relies on split-second timing from Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Matt (Zach Roerig). Liv’s off-hand remark regarding Stefan (Paul Wesley) gets a surprisingly emotional response from Caroline. As conditions on the Other Side worsen, Bonnie takes the opportunity to settle an old score. Finally, Damon’s plan causes a massive explosion in Mystic Falls, and everyone is caught up in the confusion, leaving a trail of heroism, sacrifice, relief and despair.”
This certainly sounds intense, and we have to give a major high-five to The CW for being willing to share so much about what is going to be coming up. One thing we do find especially interesting here is that this “unexpected tragedy” mentioned for Damon must not impact all the major characters, given that so many of them are still listed as appearing.
