‘Downton Abbey’ season 5 notes: Laura Carmichael, Allen Leech, and more

Take a look -It is mostly all quiet on the “Downton Abbey” front these days, and for good reason. The series is in the process still of shooting its fifth season, and the last thing that the folks over at ITV want to do is run the risk of giving anything too substantial away in turns of what could be coming up. This is our “broken record statement” when it comes to the show: If you have little else to rely on other than the story, of course you’re going to keep things a secret!

However, we can confirm that there is still plenty of exciting stuff going on. Filming continues both at Highclere Castle and the sets that have been built for the servants, and it will continue to until the summer. What we’ve got for you now are a few little nuggets to keep you excited while you wait.

Downton -A behind-the-scenes look – This production photo from season 4 was posted by Carnival Films on their Twitter account this week, and it features what has to be a very jarring image for the actors. They have to pretend to be in the 1920s while equipment is set up that is straight from the 2010s. What a crazy thing that is! We’re also sure that it leads to some funny bloopers.

Laura’s sweepstakes – In case you didn’t know, you can still enter through Omaze in order to win a trip to the UK to see the set of “Downton Abbey” and to spend time with none other than Lady Edith herself in Laura Carmichael. Plus, all the proceeds from the entries go right to charity, so you’re doing a good thing while winning a good thing at the same time.

A look forward – This video was released last month on PBS, but since we haven’t addressed it yet and it is still very much relevant, take a look at what Carmichael, Allen Leech (Tom), and Rob James-Collier (Thomas) all want to see from their characters in season 5.
