‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 7 spoilers: Robert Patrick returns for arc

The latest -Robert Patrick may not have a large episode count on “Sons of Anarchy” just yet, but he’s still beloved enough (and for good reason) to be brought back for more during the show’s final season.

Creator / showrunner Kurt Sutter revealed Friday in his new “WTFSutter” video chat that Patrick, who you know from everything from the “Terminator” franchise to “True Blood” last season as Alcide’s father, is going to return for a larger story in season 7 than we’ve seen from him to date. This gives us an opportunity to learn more about the character, and to just add to the overall cast of awesome people. (What we didn’t know about this going into the video is that Patrick is a real-life biker, so he has an inherent connection to at least part of the show.)

Sutter also confirmed that there will be a much larger role for the Mayans in season 7, but that is something you probably assumed on your own based on the way that season 6 came to a close. There are a few other characters within this group that you’ll see a little bit more of, as well, which also has to be filed under the category of “go figure.”

For those interested on Sutter’s future beyond “Sons of Anarchy” (which starts shooting later this spring), he also states in the video that he is still hard at work arranging some important locations and details for “The Bastard Executioner,” his next potential series at FX. This is a show that we’re hoping will take the fall timeslot currently held by the motorcycle drama in 2015, if everything can be put together for it in time. (It always takes a little longer for new series to get off the ground.)
