‘How I Met Your Mother’ series finale video: A look at the first dance

CBS may not be unveiling much when it comes to the “How I Met Your Mother” series finale airing Monday night, but they were at least kind enough to share at least a tiny clip that is going to make some longtime fans nostalgia.

In the sneak peek video below (via “Entertainment Tonight“), you can get a chance to see many of the characters back before anyone really knew Robin that well, and she was just trying to find some friends after moving to New York. She was welcomed in with open arms, but Lily warned them that the only way she would be okay with someone making a move is if they ended up marrying them. Well, someone did … but it wasn’t the person who wanted to back at the time of the first meeting. This flashback eventually moves into the present, where Ted, Marshall, and Lily watch the now-married couple have their first dance.

Time-jumping is something that you better get used to with this finale (titled “Last Forever”), given that it is going to happen both early and often. One of the reasons of rthat is that the episode intends on taking us on an epic journey across 17 years, starting with the end of the wedding and ending at the point in the future where Ted is actually telling his teenage children the story of how he and the Mother met.

Don’t worry: That scene is going to be coming up during the episode. You’re just not going to get a chance to see much of it beforehand. This is where CBS is probably going to pull in a good chunk of viewers, so there’s no point in giving away too much of the key to the kingdom right now.
