‘How I Met Your Mother’ series finale spoilers: The first promo gets emotional

Did you really think that CBS was going to give anything away about the “How I Met Your Mother” series finale far in advance? Then you were probably really surprised after watching the first promo for the episode. There’s basically nothing here that you can grab a hold of.

Instead, most of the promo is focused more on the emotional journey that goes along with having to say goodbye. The likes of Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, and Neil Patrick Harris are all featured discussing what this show has meant to them, and what the finale is going to be like. That is mostly unusual in that rarely have the actors themselves ever spoken during any of the promos for the show. This is giving you a little bit of a different flavor.

The only significant intel we can provide for you on this episode is that you are going to learn more about how Ted and The Mother meet, what her name actually is for the first time, and also why Ted has chosen to tell the story at the time that he has. Finally, there will be some sort of answer to this long open-ended question, which has caused probably more speculation than almost anything else pertaining to the show.

Usually, the CBS tradition is to release one or two sneak peeks of an episode of a show within 48 hours of it airing, so we’ll have to keep watch and see if they actually choose to do that for this finale. They may very well want you to fly into it blind.
