NBC’s ‘The Voice’ review: Sisaundra Lewis, Jake Barker, Stevie Jo take to Battle Rounds

The Voice -The Voice” battle rounds are often a marathon, and feel so much longer than the Blind Auditions. What is the reason for that? Blame mostly all the packages of the acts training with the coaches and the advisers. To be honest, we don’t really need to see any extra famous people, or advice for people who are going to be gone in just a matter of a few minutes, anyway.

Regardless of our opinion on these battles, though, we’re here for you! Take a look at all of the results of these battles below, along with our individual take on every single one of them. Obviously, spoilers are ahead if you haven’t caught the episode yet.

Biff Gore vs. C.J. Wilkins, “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg” (Team Usher) – Was this performance really good enough for both of them to advance? It was decent, but this early in the battles, we would be hesitant to make a steal this early. But, Blake Shelton has been doing this for a long time and probably knows better than us. C.J. wins, but Blake steals Biff.

Jake Worthington vs. Lexi Luca, “It Goes Like This” (Team Blake) – Neither one of them was really that good, mostly because they each struggled with stage presence and looking confident out there. If they are nervous now, can you imagine where they are going to be when all of America is actually watching live? Blake chooses Jake, and no steal.

Dani Moz vs. DeShawn Washington, “My Kind of Love” (Team Shakira) – A much better performance than the last one, and we’ll give these two credit for taking on a very difficult song (albeit one that most Americans probably do not know right now). Dani was just a little more present to us vocally, and it’s therefore no surprise to us at all that she is the artist moving on. Shakira chooses Dani, and no steal.

Kat Perkins vs. Patrick Thomson, “Whenever I Call You Friend” (Team Adam) – This was great. Good harmonies, and we could actually see either one of them advancing. Who knows? Maybe these two can form a duo act if the show doesn’t work out for them. We would have stolen Patrick if we had the opportunity, but did the coaches agree? Also, did Kat seriously just say that she wants to do this for the sake of the kids that she nannies? Why not just be like Walter White and say “I did it for me, because I liked it.” Adam picks Kat, and Shakira steals Patrick!

Paula DeAnda vs. Sisaundra Lewis, “Do What You Want” (Team Blake) – This is what we knew about this battle going in: Paula was completely screwed. Sisaundra is one of the best people in this entire competition, and she completely slayed this. We expect her to go a long way, even if she has nothing in common with Blake. Blake picks Sisaundra, and no steal.

Jake Barker vs. Stevie Jo, “Higher Love” (Team Usher) – The final battle of the night was to one of our favorite songs out there, and while there were some bum notes, both guys did a great job. We’re not surprised that there was a steal used here, though it’s going to be all about song choice with Jake moving forward. Usher picks Stevie, and Adam steals Jake.
