‘American Idol’ winner Lee DeWyze’s ‘Fight’ video is pretty adorable
There are few times that we would ever use the word “adorable” to describe a music video, but for those of you questioning the word choice in this context, we have one piece of advice for you: Just watch what Lee DeWyze did with “Fight” below! You’ll understand so much better where we are coming from.
The idea of using these little cloth puppets makes this entire video feel like a level of “LittleBigPlanet”, which we are totally fine with given how much we love “LittleBigPlanet.” It also tells a story of a puppet trying to fight back for his love after forgetting an anniversary, and somehow dinosaurs and aliens get involved here. We almost recommend watching it twice, that way you get all the little things that are happening in it.
“Fight” is one of the songs on Lee’s most-recent album “Frames,” which you can get now on iTunes or anywhere else in which great music is sold. Unfortunately, “American Idol” has moved away at times this year from its tradition of bringing back past contestants for the results shows, which is even more of a bummer for those of you who would like to see Lee or many other former contestants back on the show soon. With the results shows shifting down to just a half-hour starting this week, it is ultimately even more unlikely than it was previously. (We say all of this as someone who would love to see Lee and a few others get an opportunity for another return performance at some point.)
In getting back to “Fight,” what makes this video even more impressive is that Lee co-wrote and co-directed the video with Andrew Michael Golden, which means he was basically involved in every aspect from start to finish.

I love love love this video. Lee is really inventive and creative and I don’t feel he ever got the support he deserved after idol. I am so very glad he was signed by Vanguard because they get him and support him. If you consider in the past 6 months the release of Frames, the songs featured on Heart of Dixie, Reign, Nashville and most recently the gorgeous Blackbird Song on The Walking Dead and now this Fight video, his talents can not be denied. And on top of that he is also so good to his fans and we love him for that. And I agree that Idol should feature former Idol alum rather than current judges performances.

Lee is so creative – from the awesome songs he wrote for Fight and the new song from Walking Dead “Blackbird Song” to this really funny and unconventional video! Can’t wait to see what’s next!

The video is really adorable. But is it possible for Lee to do anything that doesn’t somehow involve his wife?? It’s weird!
