‘Glee’ season 5 spoilers: Did Darren Criss, Chris Colfer join Lea Michele in New York City?
Typically when “Glee” has done some filming in New York City the past season or so, there have been very few characters who have made the trip. The last time that we did see a substantial crew of people there was actually the season 2 finale for the show, where it served as the setting of Nationals.
This time around, though, we are pleased to report that New York is actually pretty populated with members of the cast! In addition to Michele (who we wrote about in a story a little earlier in the week), the likes of Chord Overstreet, Darren Criss, Kevin McHale, and Chris Colfer have all made the trip out there, as well, to shoot some scenes for upcoming episodes. Given that New York is the only setting of the show following the 13th episode of the season “New Directions” (which airs a week from Tuesday), it’s not too surprising to see it being used more for exterior shots than it has been in the past. You have more time, after all, to deal with a smaller group of characters.
If there is one thing that we are admittedly somewhat worried about when it comes to the move for “Glee,” it is that the show has a decidedly diminished female presence right now. The whereabouts of Naya Rivera’s Santana are unclear following “New Directions,” and it has already been confirmed on the show itself that Jenna Ushkowitz’s Tina is not making the move over. Therefore, you better hope that “Glee” is either casting a bunch of new ladies, or that they will find a way to include at least a few of the McKinley students in a story that at least takes them to New York from time to time. Becca Tobin is a possibility, given that Kitty and Artie are still dating for now.
