‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: More on Ian Somderhalder, Nina Dobrev, and ‘Delena’

“Vampire Diaries” fans, we feel your pain and frustration right now over what The CW is doing to you. Rather than airing their episodes in bunches, the network is seemingly alternating weeks right now between new episodes and repeats, and we’re sure that it is probably driving you a little bit up the wall.

Luckily, the show returns with a new episode next week entitled “While You Were Sleeping,” and based on some of the information that we are hearing right now, everything suggests that we are on the cusp of seeing a pretty cool hour of television. While there is a nasty virus going around, that doesn’t stop the action … or the romance.

As you have probably seen by now in the preview video below, Elena and Damon share another lip-lock, and that has to make you wonder if Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder’s characters are going to actually give a romance another go. For the time being, here is what we can tell you (per TV Guide): The kiss is just the beginning of something that is so much more intense. This idea alone should excite “Delena” fans everywhere, but this is one caveat: Is the virus going to cause some complications? The last thing we’d want to see is the two get closer to being together again, only to be ripped apart again by something that happens beyond their control.

For those of you worried about the schedule of the show, there is probably going to be at least one more hiatus this season, but the good news on the other side is that come late April, you’re going to get new installments straight through to the finale.
