‘Big Brother Canada 2’ review: Who was evicted, and who was voted into the game?
Tonight’s “Big Brother Canada 2” episode was in some ways exciting and confusing. We got some nice, touching sequences where we got to see that Kyle is a surprisingly nice guy. Meanwhile, the show decided for whatever reason that it would be interesting to not really show us most of the drama in the house.
At the moment, biggest difference between the American and Canadian versions of the show is that for this season, the producers and Slice have decided that they really want to give you a neutered edition of the show. It’s no longer “Big Brother is always watching” so much as “Big Brother wants to censor the really tense stuff from you.” We get it, at least in that we understand that the show doesn’t want to be “Big Brother 15” all over again. However, at the same time it does make this into a very different sort of show.
We are sad to see Kyle leave the game, though, mostly because he seemed to just be starting to understand what the game is … and we already know that Paul is terrible. Adel is the only person who voted to save his friend, and Andrew seems to think that he made a good move. Maybe he did, but he and Kenny are playing a very overrated game. Everyone knows that they are together, and they are making themselves enormous threats. People like Arlie and Jon are the ones who are really shining, which we highlighted when we ranked the houseguests earlier in the day.
As for the Head of Household Competition, it was a simple challenge that really put memory to the test “fact-or-fiction” style. Ika was the winner, and that should make for an interesting week. She really should try to take out Andrew or Kenny if she is smart, but she may do the safe move and target Adel instead.
Now, we turn to that corporately-sponsored twist that has Allison in the house. Hooray! Scott probably would have been the better entertainer, but she is the one of the three who seems the most invested and interested in actually playing the game. With Ika having so many other fish to fry, we imagine that she will be okay for a little while.
Despite our qualms with the editing and the presentation, we still don’t doubt that this “Big Brother Canada 2” season is bringing it. We’ll be back tomorrow with all sorts of interviews! Grade: B+.
