Trailer: OWN’s new Lindsay Lohan series looks honest … and compelling?
Who would have thought that a show about Lindsay Lohan would actually present a real look at Lindsay Lohan? The moment that we heard about Oprah Winfrey and the troubled former child star teaming up for an OWN docu-series simply entitled “Lindsay,” there was admittedly one thought that came into our head right away: This is going to be either something that never makes it to air, or something that features a candy-coated side of her that she wants everyone to see.
So what we have instead when it comes to “Lindsay,” at least bed on the full trailer that you can see below, is an honest look at what she goes through on a daily basis. There are a few moments featuring the paparazzi in here where you start to sympathize with her, and then at the same time even identify with the money-hungry world of these photographers. It gives you both sides.
Then, it shows you multiple sides of Lindsay’s family life, including discussions with both her parents (yes, including Michael), and also questions about whether or not Lindsay can keep everything going well.
Lindsay actually says it best in the trailer that just as soon as things are going in the right direction, she comes in and starts to sabotage things a little bit. She makes her life more difficult than it needs to be, and there are moments in here of her doing the traditional Lindsay Lohan stuff: Showing up late, going off the grid, and also at one point acting very belligerent to the crew who is shooting her. Eventually, Oprah herself makes a house call and tells Lindsay to get her you-know-what together, and that she really wants to see her come out of this a winner.
This show premieres on Sunday, so hats off to OWN for trying to get us to check out something that we previously had close to zero interest in at all.
