‘King of the Nerds’ episode 7 rankings: Can Xander dominate without a team?
We may not always be right when it came to our “King of the Nerds” season 2 predictions, but last week we hit the nail on the head and our favorite strategist Chris ended up going home. He played the game very well and considering that he was a target from day 1 we are impressed that he got so deep into the game.
Our rankings this week are based on TV edit, strategy, likability, performances in the various tasks and now that the teams are dismantled we are taking into consideration who we think will excel without a team behind them. Also these are just for fun and not based on any spoilers.
5. Xander Jeanneret (last week 3): We worry for Xander now that there are no more teams. He’s shown how strong he is when working with others and has proven to be a great leader when it comes to any artistic challenges. The problem is that there hasn’t been much of that the past few weeks and he’s taken much more of back seat in some of the Nerd Offs including sitting some out. He’s still extremely popular with the group (and with viewers), so he might be able to save himself based on how much everyone likes him.
4. Brian Davidson (last week 2): Like Xander, Brian strikes us as more of a team player then someone who could excel on his own in this environment. Brian has worked very well with the Titans of Rigel, but has seemed to be more of a background player on that team offering up great support, but not taking the lead much. He also hasn’t had a lot of screen time this season, so with that in mind we could see him going out this week or next.
3. Zachary Storch (last week 5): ‘No more teams’ was probably music to Zack’s ears! Even though he and Jack have been working together quite well (and even won a Nerd War), Zack has always been someone that has dominated challenges working on his own. That being said the rest of the contestants know that he’s a huge threat and if he doesn’t win next week’s Nerd War he might be in trouble.
2. Kayla LaFrance (last week 4): Kayla easily jumped to the top of our list when we saw her work over Xander into not putting her into the Nerd Off against Chris. It was incredible smooth, her argument was sound, Brian did end up getting Chris out and in the end Kayla not only didn’t end up in the Nerd Off, but she isn’t even on the radar as a target. Chris was a little more obvious when it came to his strategy, but Kayla is smooth as silk. She is someone that is a team player, but will also excel working on her own, so it’s easy to see her in the finals.
1. Jack Hou (last week 6): Jack’s performance the past few weeks has been top notch. Finally we had a Nerd War that involved math and he and Zack worked together in perfect unison. Jack has now shown that he has the chops to make it out of a Nerd Off alive, win a Nerd War and work as part of a team. There are no teams moving forward, but it’s pretty safe to expect that The Jack – Zack Attack will continue to work together if the challenge allows… at least for another week or two when Jack should get Zack out of the game.
