On “Glee” a week from Tuesday, the members of New Directions are going to get an opportunity to do something that very few people in the world of singing competitions have an opportunity to do: Win Nationals twice in a row. Also, this time they have a chance to do so in Los Angeles! “City of Angels” is one of the first times since season 4 that the show has been able to actually use its filming location in a way that is actually Los Angeles, and not Lima or New York City.
The image attached here gives you one of our first looks at what some members of New Directions (like Darren Criss’ Blaine and Chord Overstreet’s Sam) are going to be wearing as they perform. But what about having the right number of performers? What’s interesting is that we really don’t get a sense of the group’s numbers from these photos, since they mostly just show off the man actors who you know to be a part of New Directions already. In the old days, the group was noticeably larger, and included the mostly-absent Sugar Motta and Joe Hart.
Also, Kurt’s dad and stepmom will be in attendance! This is the first time that we’ve seen Romy Rosemort turn up since “The Quarterback,” and this should make quite an emotional moment for her character as she cheers on the group that Finn Hudson was once a part of. Also, more Amber Riley! While we will be in the 100th episode, as well, we hear that she has at least some sort of arc coming up that could keep her around a while.
Given the talk about New Directions ending a little later in the season, we’re really not feeling too hopeful for the glee club during this episode.
