‘Arrow’ season 2, episode 14 preview: Emily Bett Rickards vs. William Tockman

Who is ready for a hacker showdown on “Arrow“? We haven’t seen a contentious battle like this one with computers, featured in the sneak peek below, since watching a “World of Warcraft” raid.

On one side of the coin, you have Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), the timid and often-fearful head hacker for Team Arrow who has been essential in Oliver Queen escaping countless situations with his life. She is often the unsung hero of the group, especially since she often has to walk around pretending as though she is Oliver’s personal assistant and someone not worthy of her true job qualifications.

Then, you have William Tockman (Robert Knepper), who otherwise goes by the name of Clock King. He is the most nefarious adversary for Felicity on the show yet, and most of this battle could be these two engaging in a battle of wits. Based on watching Oliver and Sara Lance try to stop a train collision in the video, it feels almost like there are pawns playing in a game of chess ran by some of the other characters. The twist is that Tockman has hacked his way into their communication, which means that he has the power of listening over every little move they make. Oliver and Felicity obviously never imagined this happening, and they therefore don’t have any sort of shorthand or secret code that they can use in order to communicate without him know what is going on between the two of them. That totally seems like a major screw-up now, right?
