Stephen Colbert welcomes Jimmy Fallon, and so does Kristen Wiig (as Harry Styles)
There was some great stuff that took place across the late-night landscape on Tuesday night, and most of it had to do primarily with one man: Jimmy Fallon. His appearance on “The Tonight Show” already has people buzzing, mostly because he is really going to try almost everything that he can to grab the attention of viewers.
What does this apparently include? Think along the likes of getting Stephen Colbert to talk about him on his own show, in addition to being one of the guests who showed up on the premiere Monday night to dump a bunch of change all over him. Colbert formally welcomed Jimmy to the timeslot on his edition of “The Colbert Report” Tuesday night, joking that everyone should watch his pal’s show “on Fridays,” when his own program doesn’t air. He also said that he feels that both Jimmy and his upcoming late-night counterpart Seth Meyers will “do great.”
Back on “The Tonight Show” itself Tuesday, the real attention-grabber was none other than another former “Saturday Night Live” cast member in Kristen Wiig … who was basically doing what she did last year, where she showed up in a bald cap and Chicago Bulls jersey saying that she was Michael Jordan … which she knew nothing about him. This time around, she dressed as Harry Styles, though she continued to speak in an American accent and claimed that One Direction was formed “at school.” This is a funny gag, so we have no problem with it continuing whenever Wiig wants to come on the show. Anything to keep her from having to do Gilly again.
We’ll have some more highlights and news items throughout the week about Jimmy’s return to “The Tonight Show” as they come out.
